A super hard, durable and sparkling composition, widely used for casting all types of sculpture and novelties for indoor use. Color:Grey-Green

VATICAN ART CASTING STONE may be poured into plaster, rubber and gelatin molds. The most favorable results are obtained when 2 1⁄2 lbs. of stone powder are added to one pint of water. Mix by adding the powder to the water. Allow to stand for about three minutes, then mix thoroughly with a spoon, mixing from the bottom up. Cast in a similar manner to plaster; either solid or hollow. (Large casts should be made hollow). Setting time is approximately one hour.

Surface film on dried casts may be removed with 4.0 (or finer) sandpaper or fine steel wool. This exposes the sparkling aggregate. To the dried cast apply one coat of thin white shellac, then powder the cast with a mixture of dry pigment mixed with talc (soapstone). Finish casts in one of the following ways:

Over a grey/green cast: mix some green and black dry color with the talc. Dust over the cast, then polish with soft cloth.

Colors may be varied to suit personal taste. For dull finishes use powdered pumice, powdered rotten stone or powdered flint instead of talc.

Vatican Stone casts can be waterproofed for outdoor use if given several coats of commercial waterproofing compound, available at building supply dealers.
